The Perfect Fit

A good old fashioned panto, lots of laughs, and a dash of romance. You won't regret picking up a copy of this truly magical book.

The Perfect Fit revolves a good old fashioned panto which the villagers put on to try, and save the village hall. If you read the previous book in the 'Love in the Dales' series then you'll feel right at home many of the characters feature in this one. This is the first book that I've read in the series, but at no point did I feel at a disadvantage having not read the previous book.

There's plenty of laughs to be had throughout as the panto doesn't get off to a smooth start. I really warmed to the characters quite quickly, and I loved the budding romance between Becky, and her panto co-star Marcus.

I'll be honest, and say that this isn't a book I'd normally go for (crime thrillers are my favourite genre), but I enjoyed it from start to finish. In fact I enjoyed it so much that I read it in one sitting which is very unusual for me to sit still for so long.
If you're looking for a book that will make you laugh, and make you believe in romance again then this is the book for you.

A lovely read - romantic, funny, real.

Becky moves back from London to the place where she grew up in the Yorkshire Dales. She is settling back into village life and is thrown in at the deep end when she volunteers to organise the Christmas Pantomime which is supposed to save the village hall. With a fiance and an attractive leading man in the picture, tumultuous times are ahead for Becky.

A lovely, gentle book which is funny, heart-wrenching, and just a really good read. I look forward to reading more from Mary Jayne Baker.

A really lovely story, full of fun, love and life – this book will make you feel so happy!

A really lovely story, full of fun, love and life – this book will make you feel so happy!

Becky returns to live in Egglethwaite, her old village home in the Yorkshire Dales, and a far cry from where she has been living in London. Joined by her fiancé Cole, they attempt to make a new life for themselves there – but are they both committed to the idea?
Becky soon settles into her new life; enjoying time with her family, making lots of friends and throwing herself into community activities such as helping to revive and organise the Christmas panto. This in itself proves to be quite a task – but the Panto is not the only distraction from her relationship with Cole!

Mary Jayne Baker writes with great humour, bringing out the funny side in situations, even when they start to get serious. All the characters are very well written, with just the right amount of detail and description needed for the plot. It’s very easy to empathise with the lead character Becky, who seems just like the sort of person you would want as your friend!

A very enjoyable read.
