Another corker of a book by Tim Weaver who is a truly original, elegant, articulate author. I love the spellbinding story. He really delivers a masterclass in magical mystery story telling. And I love the way Tim Weaver describes people's eyes. I really find that I am totally drawn in and am followed around the room when I am reading.

The book portrays the author's meticulous attention to detail, creating a multi layered plot that keeps us on the edge of our seats throughout. I really enjoyed the many facets, multiple characters and endless twists turns and surprises. I really enjoyed the ode to the cinema and in particular to the film noirs. There was a wonderful and authentic old Hollywood feel to the story as it progressed. I am a huge fan of the movies and love to go and see films at my local independent art deco cinema. After reading this I felt like I needed to go and watch something fabulous there.
The clever way that the story unfolds and how it develops and unravels was heart stoppingly brilliant. The lies, the deceit, the dark side of Hollywood are so well crafted.
And the king of creating cracking cliffhangers has done it again. Not just in this book but across the series. I am still waiting to find out how things are going to unravel from a previous book. And I am excited to find out.
This might be my favourite book in the series but I am still only half way through.
