This study is the first epistemologic approach to Wieland. The author's theory of knowledge is analyzed and applied to several novels by way of explaining their individual structure and style. At the same time this innovative approach affords a reassessment of the author's so-called Urphaenomen der Schwaermerei. The epistemological method represents a new way of viewing literature in general and is equally applicable to prose or verse.
