It’s just as well this book didn’t come out when I was a manager as I might well have got the boot. Or at least that’s what I thought when I first picked it up, but despite its provocative title, No More Sh*t Managers is more about turning ‘yerbuts’ into ‘can-dos’ than it is about breaking eggs to make omelettes.
Jo Wright was herself a broken egg at one time, made redundant she was inspired to go on a journey and learn how organisations might unlock the potential of their workforces and embed trust. It seems obvious, when you think about it, that this is how business should work. Instead we seem to have spent generations building power structures at work that we feel give us control, keep everything orderly, target-focused and… a bit cr*p, really.
Jo talks about visualisation, engagement, high performance and sustainable change. But this doesn’t just come from the board room, it travels up and down and in and out of the organisation, thriving on communication and powered by the collective energy of the workforce.
It’s heady stuff which might seem a million miles from where most businesses are now, often built on fear of failure rather than the excitement of opportunity. Jo Wright describes a coaching rather than managing approach. The sort of thing you’re more likely to find in a top Premier League football club than you are in the lower kick and run divisions. Change can be delivered in steps, and this book breaks those down, keeping it simple, straightforward and logical.
No More Sh*t Managers signals an end to those tired old appraisal, report and measurement carrot and stick techniques, and instead introduces real behavioural change and engagement from every department.

No More Sh*t Managers Synopsis
HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH OF SH*T MANAGERS?
Do you want work to feel better, but struggle to know where to start?
Do you want to impact the culture, but feel that there’s a lack of leadership buy in?
Do you want managers to have better conversations, but need help to support them?
It can be frustrating knowing how brilliant the organisation could be, only to see pockets of progress appearing, then grinding to a halt. Obstacles can appear anywhere, from unnecessary politics and unacceptable behaviour to a lack of
leadership buy-in to change. All making a coaching culture hard to imagine.
However, it’s possible to build a dynamic and thriving organisation from even the most challenging situations. Change is possible, inevitable even. The role of the manager in these uncertain times has never been so important. They can help people to truly thrive through effective conversations and honest feedback, all underpinned by trust. It’s not impossible, it’s not too much to ask for, and it’s something that can start today.
Jo Wright is an authentic and passionate cultural change leader on a mission to inspire people to think differently
through the power of coaching. As the co-founder of Coaching Culture, she has helped thousands of people to develop the confidence and capability to have better conversations. Jo is ready to support you on your journey, coach you through the challenges and guide you to a coaching culture.
This book will ensure:
1. Leaders buy into a coaching culture.

3. Relationships are stronger, trust is built, and performance improves.
This isn’t another boring business book; it’s a book that will make work better for the long-term. It’s time to put an end to the sh*t manager and start to build a coaching culture.
The time is now.
