Trials of the Heart Synopsis

Karel Letnov is a murderer. At least, according to the people of the Village of Forley, West Yorkshire. A survivor of Dunkirk and horrors of World War Two, the young soldier returns to his adopted home. Nursed back to health by self-appointed carer, Clara Stead, rumours spread about the nature of their relationship. When her furious, gun-toting community leader husband, Tom, confronts Karel and is killed in an altercation with no witnesses other than Clara. A trial ensues to prove whether Karel is a killer or a victim acting in self defence. A missing gun, a local community desperate for his foreign blood and a prosecution unwilling to play by the rules, how will the jury find Karel? And why has famous playwrite Ken Kershaw taken such interest in the case? A tale of the horrors of war, the nature of small towns and an unrequited love story.
