The One Health (OH) approach recognizes that the health of humans, animals, plants, and the wider environment are closely linked and interdependent. This holistic framework aims to improve health outcomes by promoting collaboration among various sectors, including public health, veterinary medicine, environmental science, agriculture, and ecology.

But what contributions can sociology provide for the implementation of One Health initiatives? As global health threats such as COVID-19, Zika virus, and Ebola have increasingly demonstrated the need for an integrated approach, this text breaks fresh ground by demonstrating the policy, research projects, educational interventions, and institutional communications that sociology can offer to the OH approach.
