A pre-war rallying cry for Scottish independence. The book is spleen and invective against the English from a Scot who lived in England and adopted England, eventually dying in England. Some people who knew Macdonell referred to him as the ?Purple Scot'.
Better known for his humorous work, this book shows a darker side of resentment against Scotland's southern neighbor.
