Centred on a devilishly entertaining premise, Charlotte Ingham’s A Match Made in Hell is YA romance at its most grown-up and comes recommended for readers who relish quirky, lusty novels that build to flaming-hot climaxes.  

“There’s a five-minute window, in between living and dying, that I can’t quite recall”. Beyond this brief window, twenty-one-year-old Willow realises she’s died and gone to the demon-infested realm of Asphodel — a place presided over by a hot young guy who goes by the name of King Sathanas (Sath to Willow, as things progress). Even their first encounter is super-charged — Willow feels “a sense of power rippling from his body, one I can’t see but I can feel, like he’s humming with magic”. And then it hits her. Asphodel is essentially hell, and Sath is, well, the devil.   

Desperate to return to the world of the living to put right her wrongs and finally show her (dead) mother she’s not a failure, Willow strikes a deal with the devil after he informs her, “There is one way to get out of Asphodel… A series of tests to prove your worth. Pass all seven, and you’re free to leave”. While working her way through the tasks — resisting all seven deadly sins — Willow is forced to face the demons that brought her here in the first place, alongside battling those that reside in Asphodel. The big question is, can she resist getting down and very dirty with the devil to redeem herself and make a difference in the after-life?  

Outlandishly entertaining, A Match Made in Hell reels with race-against-time thrills and sizzling temptations.
