It's the Christmas season, and Tiny Tim is now grown up. No longer the pious child the world thought he was, he has just buried his father and is struggling to shed his financial ties to his benevolent 'Uncle' Ebenezer by losing himself in London's dark underbelly. He spends his nights dredging the Thames for dead bodies and the treasures contained in their pockets.

One day he comes across a girl's body, branded with a mysterious 'G'. Then he finds another girl with a similar brand - but she is still alive. Determined to protect Philomela and get to the bottom of the mystery, Tim embarks on an astonishing adventure...
