The impulse to seek out new worlds is universal to humanity. In a truly inclusive account of exploration, historian Matthew Lockwood interweaves stories of famous figures-including Sacagawea, Pocahontas and Dr Livingstone-with tales of individuals who are usually denied the title "explorer".
