Cloud Howe

Cloud Howe Synopsis

Widowed by the Great War, Chris Tavendale marries Robert Colquohon, the minister of Kinraddie. Though the union is a happy one, and Chris's young son Ewan is content in his new family, there are frustrations: the parish watches with hawk-like eyes as Chris walks the impossibly fine line between appearing 'common-like' and 'putting on airs'. When a kirk post falls vacant in the village of Segget, husband and wife seize the opportunity to move.

But in the wake of the war, economic and social upheaval are sweeping the nation - even in this far-flung corner of Scotland, their effects will be felt.
