Better in Black

LoveReading Says

One for serious Shadowhunters’ devotees, Better in Black sees Cassandra Clare delve deep into the relationships of some of the series’ best-loved couples. Featuring ten tantalising love stories that represent a journey through the Shadowhunters universe, this collection centres the romantic elements of a series that’s long been seducing fantasy fans.

Among the ten couples covered by Better in Black, we meet Tessa and Will on honeymoon in Paris, where a dark séance interrupts their acts of passion, while “Who the Wolf Loves” sees Luke Garroway pen a stirring love letter to Jocelyn Fray while she’s in a coma. Then there’s “Too Wise to Love”, a beguilingly lyrical faerie tale that hints at things to come.

Simmering with secrets, desires and demons, with surprises adding spice to the nostalgia the stories will surely stir in long-time fans, Better in Black delivers exactly what the best fantasy spin-offs should do: they deepen the world, add intrigue, and ignite interest in what’s coming next. In this case, the book includes a preview of The Wicked Powers, the highly-anticipated trilogy that will draw the Shadowhunters series to a close.
