May 2015 Non-Fiction Book of the Month.

In Your Prime acts as a witty and opinionated wake-up call for women who are rapidly approaching the dreaded 40 or have long sailed on past. You know some things, you don't know others, you may not have the money to have that London Salon haircut or the eyewateringly expensive dental treatment but there is lots that can be done to steady the Buffs and allow you to enjoy your “Prime”. As India Knight fans will know from her books Thrift and The Shops she is excellent at providing and sharing information and advice. So read with pen to hand noting down the websites and addresses of recommended sources for everything from clothing to very personal necessities for bedroom enjoyment.~ Sue Baker

The Good Book Guide logo The Good Book Guide Review. Journalist and author of three bestselling novels, India Knight writes a regular column in the Sunday Times, in which she voices her pretty forceful opinions on aspects of life today. In this book, her focus is on ageing – and specifically women ageing – deciding that, as she approaches fifty, life is generally better and she is happier than at times in her youth. In chapter headings like ‘Beauty and Maintenance’, ‘Family Relationships’, ‘Ailing Parents’, and ‘Living Well’, she dispenses a mixture of anecdote and advice, mostly based on experience and often amusingly astute, in an entertaining combination of memoir and ‘self-help’ book.

Reviews

Funny, feisty and invaluable * Good Housekeeping * Refreshingly upfront...What a relief to have sorted out my Christmas list for all my older, wiser and happier girlfriends. Thank you. * Evening Standard * India Knight tackles aging with wit...[reads like] a funny, informative conversation...often made me laugh out loud. -- Kate Kellaway * The Observer * Knight's words feel like you're speaking with that friend who always gives you the best advice...an entertaining and informed read. * Stylist * Knight is tremendously opinionated, but there is something strangely comforting about her robust certainty. Reading her book is like having a conversation with a fearfully bossy but beloved old chum * Daily Mail * Brad Pitt at 50 acts as if he believes the best is yet to come. Women should feel entitled to the same belief and the contents of this book make it seem possible. * The Times * Joyous advice on how to age wisely, happily and with grace. * Prima Magazine * I read India Knight's In Your Prime last week, with an air-punch of solidarity at its acknowledgement of the pleasures of middle age. -- Tracey Thorn * New Statesman * I love India and her no-nonsense, honest and utterly hilarious guide to navigating the post-45 years. -- Marian Keyes * Mail on Sunday * India Knight has all bases covered, with great good wit and wisdom. * Daily Mail, `Summer Reads' * Blissful and unputdownable. -- Nina Stibbe
