A Maxim Jakubowski selected title.
'Gregorio' is in fact an Anglo-Italian married couple who write as Michael Gregorio and were, until now, best known for their astute five novel historical series set in Napoleonic-times Prussia with canny magistrate Hanno Stiffeniis at the investigating helm. Their new novel is a sharp departure, a raw Mafia thriller set in the fascinating Umbria region of Italy (where the authors live), introducing park ranger Sebastiano Cangio fighting the steady Octopus-like spread of influence of the Sicilian mafia, bringing violence and corruption to the countryside and devastating the lives of anyone who opposes them.
The tone is uncompromising and combative and stems from the authors' deep knowledge of the problem because of their engagement with their local community and this provides the novel with a stark aura of truth. Gritty and emotive.
Introducing resourceful park ranger Sebastiano Cangio in the first of a brand-new crime series set against the glorious landscape of Italy's Umbria region.
