Hangman by Stephan Talty

Sarah Broadhurst's view...

Marcus Flynn, aka Hangman, is in prison for murdering three girls. When he was arrested he had a bullet wound in his head causing memory loss. A fourth girl is missing and he is suspected of her murder too. During a prison transfer his guard is murdered and Hangman escapes. Enter Detective Abbie Kearney. Now the plot truly thickens as more and more evidence is uncovered including a good few red herrings. Then another girl goes missing and we build to an extraordinary surprise ending. Abbie uses some unconventional methods in her investigation and the whole thing rattles along at an alarming pace. It is very good.
