He earned a B.S. in physics from Lanzhou University (China) in 1985. In the year 1986, he pass the selection examination organized by Ministry of Education of China, and was selected to study master and Ph.D degree in Berlin Germany. He earned a Diplom Ingineer in electric & electronics, and a Ph. D. in experimental physics from Hulmboldt University Berlin (Germany) in 1992.
From Sept. 1992 to Aug. 2015 he was at the School of Physical Science and Technology, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China.
