Oliver Lenzen, born in 1960 in Berlin, works with microscopic photog-raphy. For the series SAND he focused, in addition to the precision of the representation, on the portrait-like presentation of the depicted -objects as unique specimens determined by their formation history. The works were created using restored Leitz microscopes from the 1960s. Since 2007 Oliver Lenzen has been Professor at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences.
