The Author: Marzena Kubisz is Senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies at the University of Silesia, Poland, where she teaches British cultural studies, gender studies and modern British literature. Her research interests include sociology of the body, cultural studies and cultural history. She has written on the mythologies of mass culture, social constructions of femininity and transformations of the body.
