Liheng Wang has long been engaged in missile power research and space engineering management. He had presided over the development of China's first sea defence missile solid engine, which was successfully used in anti-ship missile and achieved a significant technological leap. He served as the leader of the "Five-star Working Group" of the Aerospace Ministry (1990), and achieved the first successful launch of five satellites in one year. He had served as the deputy general commander of China's manned space program (1999-2002). He led and organized the development and test of test ships and launch vehicles, and completed the launch and landing of Shenzhou I and II. In his research career, he had made a record of successful tests of key equipment, laid a solid foundation for key development stages of new models, and realized consecutive successful launches of five newly-developed satellites.
