James P. Bevill is an independent historian and award-winning author. His love of history inspired  him to read, organize, and catalog the voluminous papers of his wife's father, Paul Springer, whose early years in the CIA are revealed in this second of Bevill's three-book trilogy, the first being Blackboards and Bomb Shelters: The Perilous Journey of Americans in China during World War II (Schiffer, 2021). Bevill is a Senior Vice President at UBS Financial Services in the River Oaks office in Houston. He lives in Houston with his wife, Jodie Springer Bevill.
