'The pieces of her spirit are with the dead in the Otherworld,' Aphrodite said, blinking hard against the stinging of her red-tinged eyes. 'Zoey is completely gone.' Zoey Redbird's soul has been shattered by the death of her high school sweetheart Heath, and she has followed him to the Otherworld. As the world threatens to fall under Neferet's control, the only hope is that Zoey might find the strength to bring her soul together again. Stark, Zoey's Warrior, is determined to save her, no matter what the cost to himself. And Heath is only just beginning to understand that, in the Otherworld, the only way to save Zoey is to lose her - completely...
More adventures from the House of Night school for Vampyres and there is no let up for Zoey in her training as a High Priestess. As pacey and exciting as the previous novels in the series prepare yourself for some dark and fiery goings on.
'I knew forcing a confrontation with Neferet here and now wasn't smart. But I couldn't stop myself. . . ' Zoey finds herself weakened, this time by the brutal death of her mother. While Neferet gathers the forces of Darkness, Zoey must battle grief to rally her own troops; not least Stevie Rae and her newly human consort Rephaim, who has finally turned his back on his cruel immortal father, Kalona. Working to create chaos at the House of Night, Neferet has joined with the White Bull of pure evil to create a vessel of Darkness, a beautiful boy named Aurox. Yet this strange Dark creature is somehow drawn to be near Zoey - and even to protect her...

But in her brief moment of happiness, it's easy to forget that the House of Night needs her, as do her friends. In Zoey's absence, Stevie Rae has found her feelings for the Raven Mocker Rephaim are stronger than she ever could have expected, even while he still admits loyalty to their sworn enemy. Then a terrible murder threatens to destroy their group and tear their world apart - and that death will not be the last...
'I've got you. You're not alone.' I tried to sound calm and soothing, but I was breaking apart inside. Please don't take him! Please save him! my mind screamed. I looked into his eyes and completely forgot the rest of the world. In that moment, all I knew was that I was holding Stark in my arms, and I was going to lose him very, very soon. As if it's not enough to lose her friends and all three boyfriends, Zoey Redbird, the most powerful fledgling the Vampyre world has ever seen, knows that great trouble is coming to the House of Night. He took my palm in his and turned it over so that the sapphire-coloured tattoos that covered my palms were visible. Then, much as I had just done, he lightly traced his finger across my skin. This is the second in the series, House of Night: Marked was the first. Fans of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series will love this. It’s a brilliant alternative read. The House of Night is a private boarding school, known by those in the know as the vampyre finishing school. 16 year old Zoey has settled in very well at the school and is coming to terms with her incredible powers, until that is she must devote her attentions to some murders of human teenagers that are taking place and all the evidence points to her new school mates... The House of Night: Marked was the first and The House of Night: Chosen is the third. Review by Claudia (aged 16)This is a really fun book - funny, tense and tragic at times and would recommend it to all teenage girls. The characters where likeable and you felt you could really sympathise when things don’t go well. It was really easy to read and I was glued to it for a couple of days until I finished. Definitely worth a read!
The third in the House of Night sequence. A terrific alternative read to the Stephenie Meyer Twilight series. The House of Night is a private boarding school where trust is a powerful emotion but has been broken, where secrets must be kept. Sinister forces are at work in the school and the line between friend and enemy has become blurred for Zoey, but she must try to make sense of it all if she’s to keep her friends. Like the first two, this is an addictive read.
For all those Stephenie Meyer fans here’s a brilliant alternative read – even better some say – whilst you await the next instalment from the Meyer stable. The House of Night is a private boarding school, known by those in the know as the vampyre finishing school. When 16 year old Zoey is sent there she’s thrilled for she won’t have to do any more horrible maths tests and there’s only one subject to study: Vampyre 101. But of course there’s always a catch. If you fail in the subject, you die. This is the first in the series and it will be devoured by all those Twilight fans. The House of Night: Betrayed is the second book in the series and The House of Night: Chosen is the third.
I'd known it before we saw the fire trucks and the smoke. I'd known all hell had broken loose at the House of Night the moment it had been proven beyond all doubt that Neferet was on the side of Darkness. Only now I had a terrible feeling that outing Neferet would serve more to free her than to force her to pay the consequences for her lies and betrayals. At last, Zoey has what she wanted: the truth is out. Neferet's evil has been exposed, and the High Council is no longer on her side - but she's far from done wreaking havoc in the vampyre world. With the seeds of distrust sown and Darkness breeding chaos at the House of Night, everyone must band together - but that's proving to be more difficult than ever before. The twins are barely speaking and the House of Night's former enemy, Kalona, has now become their warrior, pushing their trust to the limits. To top it all off, Zoey is pretty darn sure she might be losing her mind - she saw something when she looked at Neferet's minion, Aurox, through the Seer Stone that she can hardly explain to herself, let alone her friends. Zoey knows that following her instincts might be just what they need to defeat evil... but if she's wrong, it could cause the destruction of those closest to her. With the tension at a breaking point and friendships on the line, can the nerd herd come together to stop the spread of Darkness before it's too late?
Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa's House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey. But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there. Being Queen would be cool, wouldn't it? And what about Stevie Rae and Rephraim? The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be ok with their relationship? Does he betray his father or his heart?
Y'all need to get yourselves together. Here's a newsflash from the only High Priestess you have left at this dang school: Zoey isn't dead. And believe me, I know dead. I've been there, done that and got the fricken tee-shirt. Zoey Redbird is the youngest High Priestess in House of Night history and is the only person - vamp or fledgling - that can stop the evil Neferet from raising all kinds of immortal trouble. And she might just have a chance if she wasn't so busy being dead. Well, dead is too strong a word. Stevie Rae knows she can bring her BFF back from her unscheduled va-cay in the Otherworld. But it's going to take a lot more than hoping to bring Zoey back. Stevie Rae will have to give up a few secrets of her own . . .
I guess it had gone okay with Stevie Rae. I mean, she had agreed to meet me tomorrow. And she hadn't tried to bite me, which was a plus. Of course, the whole trying-to-eat-the-street-person thing was highly disturbing ... Zoey's best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead - in an eww! zombie! kind-of-way, not in a cool vampire kind-of-way. She's struggling to retain her humanity and Zoey doesn't have a clue how to help. But she does know that anything they discover must be kept secret. Trust has become a rare commodity. Sinister forces are at work at the House of Night, where the line between friend and enemy is becoming dangerously blurred. - Not suitable for younger readers -
When sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird gets Marked as a fledgling vampire she must join the House of Night school where she will train to become an adult vampire. That is, if she makes it through the Change. But Zoe is no ordinary fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the Goddess Nyx and discovers her amazing new power to conjure the elements: earth, air, fire, water and spirit. When Zoey discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite group, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look within herself to embrace her destiny - with a little help from her new vampire friends. - Not suitable for younger readers -
