After 30 years in Liverpool, where he was professor of vascular surgery, Peter Harris ended his professional life in London as a professor of endovascular surgery. This latter title reflected a career-long search for safer, minimally invasive surgeries in place of the bloody, high-risk operations that were the norm when he first started out as a consultant in 1979. He is now retired and lives in Devon and the south of France.
