Jane Cooper (1924–2007) was born in Atlantic City, NJ. After a childhood in Jacksonville, Florida and Princeton, NJ she studied at Vassar College and the University of Wisconsin. In 1953–4 she studied for an MA at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She was a faculty member at Sarah Lawrence College from 1950 to 1987, as teacher and poet in residence. The Flashboat: Poems Collected and Reclaimed was published in 2000.
