Andrew Beardmore

Andrew Beardmore is the multiple award-winning author of the four-book epic fantasy series, The Nessemiah.

For many years before that, Andrew wrote the highly acclaimed “Unusual & Quirky” series of local history books, published by Halsgrove Publishing, each one a detailed history of an English county with the strapline “If you think you know your county, think again!”

In 2023 Andrew landed a contract that changed his writing career, from local history to epic fantasy. It is less odd a crossover than it looks: his fantasy world of Thera has much in common with Regency Britain and the Roman empire – two very different cultures destined to clash with brutal consequences – and both are periods he has written about at length in his history books.

The Nessemiah began with Books One and Two, The Strains of Malice and Cold Sanctuary, both winners of the Literary Titan Gold Award and the BookViral Golden Quill Award. Books Three and Four, The Awakening and The Kiss of Nessemi, followed in 2026.
