"The Republic (Greek: Politeia) is a Socratic dialogue, written by Plato around 380 BC, concerning the definition of (justice), the order and character of the just city-state and the just man, reason by which ancient readers used the name On Justice as an alternative title (not to be confused with the spurious dialogue also titled On Justice). The dramatic date of the dialogue has been much debated and though it must take place some time during the Peloponnesian War, 'there would be jarring anachronisms if any of the candidate specific dates between 432 and 404 were assigned'. It is Plato's best-known work and has proven to be one of the most intellectually and historically influential works of philosophy and political theory. In it, Socrates along with various Athenians and foreigners discuss the meaning of justice and examine whether or not the just man is happier than the unjust man by considering a series of different cities coming into existence 'in speech', culminating in a city (Kallipolis) ruled by philosopher-kings; and by examining the nature of existing regimes. The participants also discuss the theory of forms, the immortality of the soul, and the roles of the philosopher and of poetry in society. Short Summary (Epilogue): X.1—X.8. 595a—608b. Rejection of Mimetic Art X.9—X.11. 608c—612a. Immortality of the Soul X.12. 612a—613e. Rewards of Justice in Life X.13—X.16. 613e—621d. Judgment of the Dead The paradigm of the city — the idea of the Good, the Agathon — has manifold historical embodiments, undertaken by those who have seen the Agathon, and are ordered via the vision. The centre piece of the Republic, Part II, nos. 2–3, discusses the rule of the philosopher, and the vision of the Agathon with the allegory of the cave, which is clarified in the theory of forms. The centre piece is preceded and followed by the discussion of the means that will secure a well-ordered polis (City). Part II, no. 1, concerns marriage, the community of people and goods for the Guardians, and the restraints on warfare among the Hellenes. It describes a partially communistic polis. Part II, no. 4, deals with the philosophical education of the rulers who will preserve the order and character of the city-state. In Part II, the Embodiment of the Idea, is preceded by the establishment of the economic and social orders of a polis (Part I), followed by an analysis (Part III) of the decline the order must traverse. The three parts compose the main body of the dialogues, with their discussions of the 'paradigm', its embodiment, its genesis, and its decline. The Introduction and the Conclusion are the frame for the body of the Republic. The discussion of right order is occasioned by the questions: 'Is Justice better than Injustice?' and 'Will an Unjust man fare better than a Just man?' The introductory question is balanced by the concluding answer: 'Justice is preferable to Injustice'. In turn, the foregoing are framed with the Prologue (Book I) and the Epilogue (Book X). The prologue is a short dialogue about the common public doxai (opinions) about 'Justice'. Based upon faith, and not reason, the Epilogue describes the new arts and the immortality of the soul."

"Plato’s Critias is the foundational source of one of the most enduring mysteries in human history: the lost civilization of Atlantis. In this unfinished dialogue, Plato unveils a majestic tale passed down through Solon from ancient Egyptian priests—of a powerful empire beyond the Pillars of Heracles, rich in technology, beauty, and ambition. But this is no mere fantasy. Critias blends myth, philosophy, and political allegory to offer a cautionary vision: the rise and fall of a mighty civilization undone by its hubris. Through detailed descriptions of Atlantis’s geography, military power, and social organization, Plato reveals not only a mythic past but a philosophical warning to the future. Why did Atlantis fall? What makes a society just or unjust? What happens when divine order is abandoned for mortal pride? Though the dialogue ends abruptly, its impact has echoed through millennia—fueling imaginations, explorations, and philosophical debates ever since. This audiobook delivers Critias in its full glory: a glimpse into Plato’s unfinished vision of a civilization that may have once been—or was meant to be a mirror of our own."

"Step into the mythic and metaphysical brilliance of Plato’s Timaeus and Critias, two of the most enigmatic and influential dialogues in Western philosophy. In Timaeus, Plato explores the origins of the cosmos through the voice of a Pythagorean philosopher who weaves a narrative of divine geometry, eternal forms, and the creation of the soul. It is one of the earliest and most profound attempts to marry science, theology, and philosophy into a single cosmological vision—describing how the Demiurge, a benevolent divine craftsman, shaped the universe with reason and harmony. Critias follows with a tantalizing, unfinished tale that gave birth to the legend of Atlantis. Through Solon’s recounting of ancient Egyptian knowledge, Plato sketches a majestic empire of immense power and technological advancement, which ultimately falls into moral decay and divine punishment. It's not just a myth—it’s a warning, a parable, and a mirror for the corruption of societies. These two works together form the philosophical foundation of many Renaissance and modern esoteric traditions. Whether you're drawn to their spiritual cosmology or the mystery of Atlantis, Plato’s dialogues offer a timeless journey into human origins, political virtue, and metaphysical truth."

"Explore the Cosmic Blueprint of Western Philosophy. In The Timaeus, Plato offers one of the most influential philosophical visions of the ancient world—a sweeping dialogue that lays out the structure of the cosmos, the nature of the soul, and the divine intelligence behind creation. Presented as a conversation between Socrates, Timaeus the Pythagorean philosopher, Critias, and Hermocrates, this work bridges mythology and metaphysics, blending Greek thought with early scientific speculation. Timaeus explains the origins of the universe as the deliberate design of a benevolent 'Demiurge' who imposes order on chaos, crafting the world with mathematical harmony and eternal forms as its template. This foundational work of natural philosophy includes: The geometric and mathematical structure of reality The soul of the universe and how it animates all things The elements—earth, air, fire, and water—and their divine ratios The origins of time, space, and human beings Plato’s cosmological theory that would shape science, theology, and esotericism for centuries Whether you are a student of philosophy, a seeker of metaphysical truths, or a lover of ancient wisdom, The Timaeus opens a door to understanding the cosmos through the lens of one of history’s greatest minds."

"Imagine a world where shadows are reality, where knowledge is but flickering illusions cast upon a wall. This is the chilling vision of Plato's Allegory of the Cave, a philosophical parable nestled within The Republic. More than two millennia old, it remains one of the most haunting explorations of truth, perception, and enlightenment. In this tale, Socrates describes prisoners trapped in a dark cavern since birth, chained so they can see only the wall before them. Behind them burns a fire, casting the silhouettes of unseen objects. To the prisoners, these shifting shadows are the entire world. But what if one of them were freed? What if he turned toward the light, stepping beyond the cave's mouth into the dazzling reality of the sun? Would he embrace the truth, or would the brilliance blind him? More importantly, if he returned to the cave, could he convince the others that their world was mere illusion? Plato's allegory is more than a story—it is a challenge. Are we content with shadows, or do we dare to seek the light? His message echoes through time, urging us to question, to learn, and to break free from the chains of ignorance."

How to Talk About Love: An Ancient Guide for Modern Lovers
"What is love? In poetry, songs, fiction, movies, psychology, and philosophy, love has been described, admired, lamented, and dissected in endless ways. Is love based on physical attraction? Does it bring out our better selves? How does it relate to sex? Is love divine? Plato's Symposium is one of the oldest, most influential, and most profound explorations of such questions—it is even the source of the idea of 'Platonic love.' How to Talk about Love introduces and presents the key passages and central ideas of Plato's philosophical dialogue in a lively new translation. The Symposium is set at a fictional drinking party during which prominent Athenians engage in a friendly competition by delivering improvised speeches in praise of Eros, the Greek god of love and sex. The aristocrat Phaedrus, the legal expert Pausanias, the physician Eryximachus, the comic playwright Aristophanes, and the tragic poet Agathon—each by turn celebrates different aspects of love before Socrates proposes not to praise love but to tell the truth about it. In the final speech, the politician and libertine Alcibiades argues that Socrates himself is the epitome of love. Deftly capturing the essence and spirit of Plato's masterpiece, How to Talk about Love makes the Symposium more accessible and enjoyable than ever before."
