A Maxim Jakubowski Great Male Crime Sleuth.
Oregon cop Sheridan has spent three novels fighting it out with uber-female serial killer Gretchen Lowell, but his fourth outing sees her behind bars and Archie and accidental sidekick journalist Susan Ward investigating a sinister case of murders by poisonous squid (!) while the city of Portland is being flooded. Cain does horror within a crime context better than anyone, and the results are both gripping and unsettling. Breathless and unputdownable and Sheridan's complex personality is revealed layer by layer.
