Sarah Broadhurst's view...
This is one of the few books in this list that if you’ve seen and loved the film you are in for a very different and wild experience. There is no way that the film could portray this masterpiece fully. Believe me, if you loved the film you are going to love this more.

Synopsis
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
Every weekend, in basements and parking lots across the country, young men with good white-collar jobs and absent fathers take off their shoes and shirts and fight each other barehanded for as long as they have to. Then they go back to those jobs with blackened eyes and loosened teeth and the sense that they can handle anything. Fight Club is the invention of Tyler Durden, projectionist, waiter and dark, anarchic genius. And it's only the beginning of his plans for revenge on a world where cancer support groups have the corner on human warmth.
Chuck Palahniuk’s wonderfully bleak and darkly funny novel was adapted into a cult film in 1999, starring Brad Pitt and Ed Norton, and directed by David Fincher.

Chuck Palahniuk's six novels are Diary, Lullaby, Fight Club, which was made into a film by director David Fincher, Survivor, Invisible Monsters, and Choke. He is also the author of Fugitives and Refugees, a book about Portland, Oregon, and the non-fiction collection Non-fiction. He lives in Washington State.
