Lovereading view...

A highly enjoyable read with a lot of twists and action concerning the murder of a scientist dealing with radioactive materials. Connelly’s established character, Harry Bosch, enters the scene in another beautifully structured crime novel. Interestingly, it was originally published as a serial in The New York Times so there are plenty of cliff-hangers, and Connelly has added a new final chapter.

Comparison: Harlan Coben, G M Ford, James Lee Burke

Synopsis

The Overlook by Michael Connelly

The pulse-quickening new thriller from master of suspense Michael Connelly sees Harry Bosch plunged into the dangerous world of international terrorism.

When a physicist is murdered in LA it seems the killer has no fear of publicity, leaving the body on The Mulholland overlook, a site with a stunning view over the city. And when it's discovered that the victim turned over a quantity of a lethal chemical to his killer before he died, Harry knows he has more than just a single death to worry about.

Alongside the forces of Homeland Security, Harry realises he must solve the murder or face unimaginable consequences.

About the Author

Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly decided to become a writer after discovering the books of Raymond Chandler while attending the University of Florida. After graduating in 1980, Connelly worked at newspapers in Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ending up as a crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, one of the largest papers in the country, and bringing him to the city of which his literary hero, Chandler, had written.

After three years on the crime beat in L.A., Connelly began writing his first novel to feature LAPD Detective Hieronymus Bosch. The novel, The Black Echo, based in part on a true crime that had occurred in Los Angeles, was published in 1992 and won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by the Mystery Writers of America. The rest is crime writing history.

He lives in Tampa, Florida, with his wife and daughter.
