Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconology, arrives at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of an astonishing scientific breakthrough. The evening's host is billionaire Edmond Kirsch, a futurist whose dazzling high-tech inventions and audacious predictions have made him a controversial figure around the world. But Langdon and several hundred guests are left reeling when the meticulously orchestrated evening is suddenly blown apart. There is a real danger that Kirsch's precious discovery may be lost in the ensuing chaos. With his life under threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape Bilbao, taking with him the museum's director, Ambra Vidal. Together they flee to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch's secret. To evade a devious enemy who is one step ahead of them at every turn, Langdon and Vidal must navigate the labyrinthine passageways of extreme religion and hidden history. On a trail marked only by enigmatic symbols and elusive modern art, Langdon and Vidal will come face-to-face with a breathtaking truth that has remained buried - until now.
Florence: Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon awakes in a hospital bed with no recollection of where he is or how he got there. Nor can he explain the origin of the macabre object that is found hidden in his belongings. A threat to his life will propel him and a young doctor, Sienna Brooks, into a breakneck chase across the city. Only Langdon's knowledge of the hidden passageways and ancient secrets that lie behind its historic facade can save them from the clutches of their unknown pursuers. With only a few lines from Dante's The Inferno to guide them, they must decipher a sequence of codes buried deep within some of the Renaissance's most celebrated artworks to find the answers to a puzzle which may, or may not, help them save the world from a terrifying threat.
The new bestseller from The Da Vinci Code author is about Freemasonry, with the same mix of obscure history and fast-paced action we have come to expect. I think these are perfect aeroplane reads, they engross you quickly and keep you distracted for the length of the flight. Some of you may be put off by the incredible amount of hype that surrounds all Dan Brown’s work, but if you can set that aside and just enjoy a compulsive thriller you won’t be disappointed.
World-renowned Harvard symbologist Professor Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research base to analyse a cryptic symbol branded onto the chest of their top researcher. And so begins Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon series. I was hooked at the professor’s exploits, the fast pace and thrilling twists and turns as he embarks on his hunt with you in tow, intrigued by every puzzle piece. With the beautiful scientist Vittoria Vetra at his side, he uncovers a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization -- the Illuminati. I loved it, it took my breath away: the symbolism, the puzzles, the blend of history, science and religion. Even though it uses a little artistic license, I didn’t care, it didn’t detract from the story for me. I had never before read anything else like this, and I waited with baited breath for each book in the ensuing series to be published. Books in The Robert Langdon Series: 1. Angels and Demons 2. The Da Vinci Code 3. The Lost Symbol 4. Inferno 5. Origin Serial Reader? Check out our 'Fall in Love With a Book Series' collection to find amazing book series to dive in to.
