The art work of this book was both beautiful and eerie as was the story.
The art work of this book was both beautiful and eerie as was the story. As a mother myself the imagination of children can be a wild adventure and I am a huge believer in the fact that this should be nurtured and encouraged. As adults, our imagination becomes less due to the surrounding realities of the world. We have life experience that alters our ability to have imagination take over. I feel this book was a haunting representation of imagination being seen as a negative and affecting the child’s ability to fathom why she was not allowed to believe in what she saw. The lack of understanding from her parents clearly hurt her and haunted her into adulthood where she then also struggled with her own imagination. I have never been very good at finding hidden meanings within readings and so I may have this incorrect.
