Towards the Vanishing Point

This book is a recommended read and an author I will look out for in the future.

Set in the 30s and two friends who grew up together. One of the characters falls pregnant and whether she keeps the child is she able. Her friend falls for a man who has had two wives who he has lost in strange circumstances - will she see sense in time? What would you do if your friend was to do this - this was a shocking scenario for when the book was set nearly 90 years ago. I think that Towards the Vanishing Point is a good story about love, drama and betrayal. This book is a recommended read and an author I will look out for in the future.

Jane Brown

An interesting read for fans of relationship and period dramas.

Set in 1938, Lily Heatherington and Stella Marsden meet as children and form a close bond. Through their wartime experiences, the two characters' friendship endures into their adulthood. It is this friendship that forms the strong running thread throughout the book. It's great to see how the pair become friends and then how their friendship forms the basis of this dramatic story about love, drama and betrayal.

In later life, Stella and Lily work in the same hospital. Lily meets Will Bagshaw, a male nurse surrounded by rumours. Stella tries to warn Lily off, and their long-standing friendship is at risk.

As this is historical fiction, set in the 1930's - 50's, the language used is slightly older, but the triangle of the three characters is universal and an interesting read. The drama is increased when you take into account the time period and the events in the book.

An interesting read for fans of relationship and period dramas.
