Josef has come to the royal capital to serve his lifelong master. Lucas, the lieutenant general, gives his unchanging love to his late beloved. Dirk, adjutant to the general, who has made an unusual name for himself as a commoner, despite his facetious personality.

The twists and turns of fate bring them together to face an incident that rocks the foundation of the kingdom, and Josef falls in love with Lucas in the battlefield.
