Entering a New Millennium Synopsis

In the new millennium, social welfare workers in Hong Kong are confronted with rapid changes: the changing subvention mode, greater emphasis on service quality and accountability, and increasing complexity of the needs of different client groups. They have to adjust themselves in response to these changes. To address these challenges and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the New Asia College, a symposium entitled ""Entering a New Millennium: Advances in Social Welfare in Hong Kong"" was organised. The papers presented at the symposium were edited into the present volume. Papers on both social welfare services and research are included and topics cover family, youth, elderly and rehabilitation services, self-help groups and their supervision, social security, social welfare administration and evaluation of social work practice, etc. This book is of use and interest to social work students, social workers and academics.
