The Siebenburgisch-Sachsische vocabulary covers the entire vocabulary of the Siebenburg Saxons, who settled in the Carpathian highlands since the 13th century, but after the end of the Second World War and especially after 1989, the majority of them left the ancestral areas to go to Germany and Austria, but also to to emigrate to the USA and Canada. The Siebenburgisch-Saxon is a predominantly Moselle-Frank relict dialect, partly at the level of development of Middle High German. The examples given in the dictionary articles may serve as documentation of a dialect in decline. The dictionary is edited in the Institute for Social Science Research of the Romanian Academy in Sibiu and has been published by Bohlau Verlag since volume 6 (letter L).
