Escape to the Swiss Chalet by Carrie Walker shows how Holly attempts to do just that. This charming romantic comedy, Walker’s debut novel, ticks all the boxes. Sympathetic protagonist? Check. A love interest or two? Check. A dastardly ex? Check. Delightful locations? Check.  

Since Holly is working as a sous chef and a sommelier, much of the attention focuses around food—runny raclette, crunchy croissants, magnificent macarons. The luscious descriptions were enough to make my stomach rumble multiple times. Likewise, the luxury location, with its ski-in chalets, wine cellars and attentive staff, made me want to play the lottery to see if I could become a millionaire overnight. 

My escape to the Swiss chalet was delightful—it was a cheery romantic comedy that would brighten up even the darkest winter day.
