Thoughts consume your mind and take up precious grooves and canals. To contain these fatal thoughts, walls are built around them, not to infect other parts of your brain. Feelings of fear, betrayal, injustice, anger and loneliness. Turning good days into bad ones. Unpretentious an intentionally simplistic in nature, to ignite dialogue on race, religion and culture. Aneri Yendis, routinely passive and subdued. Shares her inner emotions and concealed sentiments. That can be relevant to all communities. Poems re-counting, growing up in a small predominantly white town, relationships, childbirth and illness. The poems in this book - express the frustration, fear and loneliness she and others had/must face daily. A window into the mind and heart of black women in their communities and the world.
