The Final Hours

The Final Hours Synopsis

A dark Australian police procedural packed with cold-case suspense, small-town secrets, corrupt cops, and an outsider detective who dares to challenge the powerful forces protecting a deadly truth in rural New South Wales.

After forty-four years in prison, freedom comes with a bullet.

Wayne Portman has always said he was innocent.

Convicted of a brutal double murder in Kingsbrook, he has spent more than four decades behind bars for crimes he swore he did not commit. One of his alleged victims was his own girlfriend. Her body was never recovered.
Then Wayne is released. Within hours, he is shot dead.

Detective Inspector Jason Farrell has barely arrived from Sydney when he is thrown into a case nobody in Kingsbrook wants reopened. The deeper he digs, the more the past begins to bleed into the present - old lies surface, powerful enemies close in, and a cover-up protected for generations begins to crack.

But someone is still killing to keep the truth buried. And in Kingsbrook, the most dangerous secrets may belong to the men wearing badges.

The Final Hours is the gripping first book in the Detective Jason Farrell series: a fast-paced, gritty Australian crime thriller for fans of cold-case conspiracies, corrupt institutions, and detectives who refuse to back down.
