With a terminal lung cancer diagnosis, Bill Sanderson faces the ghosts of his past and a burden of guilt. He's determined to find peace in his final days, but confessing past mistakes to his grieving wife, Maggie, feels like an unbearable weight. As his health deteriorates, Bill faces a life-altering decision that could test Maggie's faith. Can he seek redemption and avoid leaving behind a legacy of pain?

"'I need a hug.' She came to him then, with wet hands, and put her arms around him, resting her head on his chest. 'I love you.'

'Love you too.'

They stood, holding each other, Bill trying not to cry at the pain in his chest which was a lot more bearable than the pain in his heart. The words they spoke were inadequate compared to the raging tumult that was charging around his head. He wanted to scream, to plead with a god he didn't believe in to save his life. He wanted to spare Maggie the pain that was coming.

He couldn't do any of those things, so he stood helplessly, holding his wife in his arms as the short winter day drew to a close and the sky darkened into night."
