Advanced Image Processing for Nuclear Medicine Practice Synopsis
The book will be a detailed review about the physics inherent to image processing methods. The mathematics of image processing, fundamentals of digital image processing, image enhancement, image registration and co-registration and segmentation will be reviewed. These topics can be used for all the areas associated with physics, like
technologists, radiographers, medical physics, physics, engineering areas.
Additionally, the book will contain a detailed explanation about how image processing can influence the clinical images in Nuclear Medicine and, consequently, the clinical diagnosis. We will present an explanation about all the images acquired in every single human system, what are the methods applied nowadays and a comparison between them. It will also be given a view about new programs which can be used to process clinical images. The effects on the clinical decision will also be discussed.
