The Best of Both Worlds The autobiography of the world's greatest living medium

Biography / Autobiography

Sue Baker's view...

It took the death of his Mother last year for the celebrated medium Gordon Smith to open up about his life. Raised in the poverty of Glasgow’s Gorbals it was a traumatic childhood, one where Gordon slowly discovered his spiritual powers following abuse by an older boy. He realised he could bring about out of body experience, and then there were premonitions, awareness of people’s thoughts and the shock of seeing the form of someone recently dead. This hard beginning to life gave him the powers he has today as one of the world’s most famous mediums – this is his story.

Who is Sue Baker

The Best of Both Worlds The autobiography of the world's greatest living medium by Gordon Smith

Gordon Smith was born in the poverty stricken Gorbals in Glasgow. His mother, a fiery Irish immigrant, protected the family from the burglars, bullies and violent gangs that lived in the area. For a while Gordon felt safe in his dangerous neighbourhood. But, when Gordon was only six years old, he was sexually abused by an older boy. It was during these traumatic episodes that Gordon first realised he could leave his body, and enter a different spiritual dimension. Gradually, he became more aware of premonitions he was having during his everyday life and started to become aware of what people were thinking. Then one day he saw an old family friend walking down the street. Telling his mother about the friend's arrival, Gordon was shocked when she cried and scolded him for saying such things. The family friend had been found dead two days earlier. Gordon held off telling the story of his discovery of spiritual powers, as he believed his mother would have hated people knowing the poverty they came from or the abuse that her son suffered. After her death last year, Gordon decided it was now time to tell his incredible story from the beginning; the hardship of childhood in poverty stricken Glasgow all the way to becoming an internationally praised medium working for some of the most famous and powerful people in the world.
