cwa-logo-300x320Here at Lovereading , we love crime fiction and are really excited to tell you about two CWA (The Crime Writer’s Association) events that you can join in from the comfort of your own home. Lovereading, from now and throughout 2016, will be working closely with the CWA, who run the prestigious Dagger Awards, which are the longest established literary awards in Britain and celebrate the best in crime writing.   Dagger-ReadsCWA Dagger Reads focuses on all of the shortlists for the Daggers: Goldboro Gold (Best Crime Novel), Ian Fleming Steel (Best Thriller) and John Creasey, New Blood (Best Crime Novel by a first time author). Every year the judges read hundreds of entries, and Dagger Reads represent the very best of them. The CWA are giving avid crime readers the chance to take a deeper look at the shortlisted books. Each month the CWA will focus on one of their most recent Dagger winners, releasing extracts, Q&As, giveaways, judges comments and reading group guides. This then culminates in a live online reading group. The CWA Dagger Reads focus during November is on S.G.MacLean for ‘The Seeker’. To take part, you just have to subscribe for free via the link attached daggerreads.co.uk/dagger-reads-live/   Dagger-in-the-Library-JPGCWA Dagger in the Library allows crime fans everywhere to nominate their favourite authors online and the ten authors with the most votes will make up the longlist. The response received last year was staggering, with 1,384 crime fans voting for 636 different authors, highlighting the extraordinary quality and variety in crime writing. Unlike most other literary prizes, the Dagger in the Library is awarded not for an individual book but for an author’s entire body of work and is one of ten highly prized CWA Dagger Awards awarded to crime writers since 1955.
