Judith Bingham is an English composer born in Nottingham. Bingham studied composition and singing at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying with Alan Bush, Eric Fenby and Hans Keller. In 1977, Bingham won the BBC Young Composer award and has continued to win multiple awards including two British Composer Awards in 2004 and 2006 for her choral works. Bingham was made a Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal School of Church Music in 2005 and 2007 respectively, and is a Vice-President of the Church Music Society. She also sang full time as an alto with the BBC Singers from 1983-1995, for which a large amount of her choral compositions were composed. She was appointed an OBE in 2020 for her services to music.
