Jean M. Snook is Professor of German at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her translation of Gert Jonke’s The Distant Sound won the 2009 inaugural Austrian Cultural Forum Translation Prize as well as the 2011 Helen and Kurt Wolff Translator’s Prize.
