Books By David Pinniger, Dee Lauder - Author
David Pinniger's passion for insects started as a boy when he helped his amateur entomologist father catch, identify and release dragonflies. He started work as a food inspector with the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (MAFF) and then as a research scientist for the MAFF Central Science Laboratory in Slough. In 1996 he became an independent consultant providing specialist advice and training on pests in museums, galleries, archives and historic houses. He is the pest management strategy adviser for English Heritage and advises many national museums, galleries and historic houses in the UK. David is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society. He was awarded the 2008 Plowden Medal for his contribution to preventive conservation and received an MBE in the Queen's 2008 Birthday Honours list. Dee Lauder has worked for English Heritage since March 1989. She joined the Collections Conservation Team in 2001 and in 2003 was appointed to lead the delivery of English Heritage's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Programme and IPM standards. Dee's role involves implementing control methods for sites with collections, as well as giving advice on insect pest identification, monitoring and treatment methods appropriate for significant and historic collections. She also undertakes training in these areas for English Heritage staff. In addition, she provides IPM advice to organisations and individuals outside English Heritage and is a member of the Pest Odyssey UK Steering Committee, a non-profit organisation advocating IPM in cultural heritage institutions.
