He is known for his startling adaptations from the classical repertoire alongside plays by contemporary dramatists. His adaptations include a marathon production of Shakespeare's history plays, The Wars of the Roses (with Cate Blanchett), and a version of Chekhov's The Seagull. His play Every Breath premiered at Sydney's Belvoir Street in 2012.
