Radoslaw Palonka is a researcher and a faculty member at the Institute of Archaeology of the Jagiellonian University. He specializes in the archaeology and history of North America, with a focus on the Southwest. He has been a participant in many projects and archaeological studies in Poland and the U.S., for example at the Cahokia Mounds site, Illinois and at the Pueblo Indian site in Colorado and Arizona. In 2009 he defended a Doctoral disseration on defensive architecture and the depopulation of the Mesa Verde region. This book is a compiled and shortened version of the disseration.
