Sarah Broadhurst's view...
Experienced author of supernatural thrillers turned tack with Dead Simple and began a crime series starring an intriguing character, DS Roy Grace, based in Brighton. It was terrific. Now we have the second, equally terrific. We get to know Roy better as he is faced with a particularly nasty case. Following several strands in short, cliff-hanger sections, the plotting is excellent as tension mounts alarmingly. I was completely gripped, albeit somewhat disturbed by the very unpleasant nature of the crimes. This is excellent stuff, highly recommended.
