A beautiful love story with a ghostly twist. This novel has recently been turned into a Hollywood blockbuster starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, which I'm told is fantastic but quite different from the book. This debut novel from Marc Levy has at first glance an unbelievable plot, but it works. It's got everything: a boy-meets-girl love story with a bit of suspense and a touch of comedy, all guaranteed to warm your heart! Tres bien.

Just Like Heaven Synopsis
A young San Francisco archictect, Arthur returns to his new apartment after an exhausting day. Relaxing in the bath, he hears fingers snapping in time to the music on his radio. He traces the noise to a closet, where, to his surprise, he finds a striking woman. Thinking she's part of a practical joke he asks her to leave. But Lauren, stunned to discover that Arthur can see and hear her reveals the extraordinary truth to him. 6 months before, she was in a car crash; her body now lies in a hospital bed, in a coma. Since then, she has been forced to wander as a spirit, until frightened and lonely she came back to her apartment. The one her mother rented to Arthur after abandoning hope of her daughter recovering.
Initially sceptical, Lauren finally proves to Arthur that what she has said is true. Slowly they begin to explore uncharted areas of intimacy. What inspired you to write Just Like Heaven?
My son was the initial inspiration, or rather, the man he would become one day. I wanted to write him a story in which I could hide a few things about love and how a man could be, and through the story to give him the freedom of deciding the values he wanted to adopt
Who would you recommend Just Like Heaven to?
Anyone who enjoys romantic comedies like “Nothing Hill†or ‘Four weddings and a Funeralâ€
How did it come to be a such a huge Hollywood film?
I am still asking myself that question! . Very truly I don’t know, all I do know is that it made me very happy and still makes me very happy.
Where is your favourite place to write?
Definitely, in a lovely house, by the sea, but my publisher wouldn’t buy me one!,.. so I usually write at home.
What do you like to read in your spare time?
Novels and travel writing…
