The book "Emergent phenomena in spintronics" will cover different areas related to spin-dependent transport phenomena in spintronic devices. The text will explore magnetic materials of different nature (ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic materials) and the role that play in different spintronic phenomena such as current-induced magnetization switching, ultrafast generation of spin currents, spin-to-charge current conversion, and the voltage control of spin current. After a brief historical summary, each chapter will present the fundamental concepts followed by the descriptive and quantitative analysis of the different phenomena. This description, that will be complemented with the mathematical formalism in each case, will provide the reader the tools to determine the applicability of the systems discussed through the book. The exploration of the recent bibliography of the major topics covered in each chapter will provide the background to the author to synthesize which one are the breakthroughs in each field. Each chapter will also have an end-of-chapter summary to provide the reader with the most relevant information about the materials used for the observation of the different phenomena. The author will then present the next experimental steps or potential materials that could provide complementary information to the state-of-the-art in each topic.
