Independent Bookshop Week was first launched in 2006 by the Booksellers Association and it forms a part of the Books Are My Bag campaign. A week dedicated to celebrating independent bookshops nationwide as well as a brilliant time to highlight the vital role that independent bookshops play within our local communities.

At LoveReading we love to support Independent Bookshops. Our Bookshop blog feautres features bookshops from across the country, we love virtually visiting them and introducing each new shop to our readers. Over the past few years, bookshops have faced unprecedented challanges and changes. From lockdowns meaning booksellers needed to go above and beyond to stay in business before reopening to the ups and downs that have happenned since, it's mre important that ever that we support your local indies whenever and however we can.

Independent bookshops will be celebrating Independent Bookshop Week in their own way, so be sure to keep an eye on your local store's social media so you don't miss out. You can also follow @booksaremybag and #IndieBookshopWeek on social media to find out more about, and take part in the events being run by Books Are My Bag and sponsored by Hachette UK

If you're looking for new book recommendations, indie booksellers will be happy to assist. Our independent booksellers are absolute gems in our local communities and we couldn't love them more. They have risen to every challenge thrown at them in the past 15 months and we coudn't be more pleased.

And of course, we're here, week in week out all year round, reading, reviewing and recommending so you can find your next favourite book. View our Star Books if you're looking for a sure-fire winning read, or our Collections for more thematic recommendations. We even have a collection of books celebrating our love of bookshops. And of course you can search by your favourite genre whether you're a lover of fiction of non-fiction.
